We’ve all heard of Facebook accounts being hacked into. And changing your password is a simple way of reducing the likelihood of your account getting into the wrong hands.
This is no joke. There are people out there to whom it is a bit of fun hacking into things like Facebook. Here is just one of the many videos on YouTube helping hackers get into Facebook accounts.
Frightening stuff isn’t it?
Sadly that is just one of many videos out there that explains how to hack a Facebook account!
The extensive risk of leaving passwords unchanged for long periods of time was explained to me in detail yesterday by a technical support rep for a hosting company. He certainly opened my eyes to how easy it is to lose control of an e-mail account or social platform account (like Facebook) without ever seeing any clues until it was too late.
The thing is, it takes just 30 seconds to change your password and by doing that every few months you are protecting your online identity.
Simply log into Facebook, click the little down arrow next to the home link on the right-hand side, choose account settings and you will see, next to the word Facebook, how long it has been since you last changed your password.
If it has been sometime, click the edit link on the right and use that form to enter a new password. Simple. Next time you log into Facebook you will use your new password.
Don’t forget to make a note of it somewhere safe! Although Facebook will send you an email to confirm you have changed your password it will not tell you the password in the email. So make a note before you forget it.
